The proposed design for Karnataka Public School envisions a learning environment that places outdoor play, recreation, and experiential education at its core. Generous open spaces, interactive Nali-Kali classrooms, and lush green pockets create a setting that nurtures creativity, imagination, and holistic learning.

Responding to the region’s arid climate, the building unfolds into a series of fractioned open and built spaces that offer varied light, shade, and thermal comfort. Large over hanging eaves, perforated surfaces, and jaali-framed buffer walls shade classrooms from direct sunlight while allowing filtered daylight and ventilation. Mud walls and stone flooring further enhance thermal comfort and add tactile richness to the learning spaces.

The design remains fluid and boundary-free, with clear pathways interspersed with moments of discovery. Informal spaces blur the line between play and learning, balancing the library and playground to encourage interaction and formative memories. What appears as a solid built form at first gradually reveals a layered composition of indoor and outdoor.
