RIDGE SCHOOL :

Set in the foothills of the Eastern Ghats, with agricultural lands and hillocks as its backdrop, Ridge School is designed to respond sensitively to its challenging climatic conditions. The campus fosters a calm, focused learning environment by carefully balancing built form with shaded, open spaces.

The master plan is organized as clusters of classrooms arranged around individual courtyards and aligned along a central circulation spine. This linear corridor connects the campus end to end, becoming the nucle us of movement, interaction, and communication. To address harsh weather, solar shading guided the design, with major building volumes raised on structural stilts to create shaded zones below for outdoor learning and extracurricular activities.

The staircase forms the architectural and social spine of the school, unifying levels while doubling as a shared gathering space. The use of adobe bricks, terracotta screens, and upcycled wood enhances thermal comfort and reduces the building’s carbon footprint—resulting in a climate-responsive, sustainable learning environment rooted in its context.
