The bare shell of this double-storey space in Bangalore was transformed to rejuvenate the brand’s identity and accommodate the growing needs of the client’s practice. Ideas of privacy, panache and play of volumes take over the interiors of Tamara. The lower level invites detailed discussions with customers with trial rooms and a private office, while the upper floor houses the workshop (karigar) area.

Conceptualised in antique furniture pieces and contemporary finishes for the interior spaces, Tamara imbibes a sense of nostalgia. The custom-made reception table commences the design journey of Tamara’s antique furniture collection. Carried forward in the design of the display racks – the amalgamation of the old and new – where the traditional wooden pillars are tethered in the simplicity of the minimal design.

The minimal interiors form an understated backdrop that works to showcase the client’s oeuvre of detailed needlework. While conscious decisions to facilitate elaborate discussions and multiple trials have sculpted the space planning and furniture details.
